Why Don't You Take Insurance?

INSURANCE DOES NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND.

“Why don’t you take insurance?”

We tend to get asked this question a decent amount. Ultimately, it’s because we believe that we can deliver higher quality care and services than if we did accept insurance.

Over the years, insurance companies are reimbursing less and less for physical therapist services. These trends in reimbursement are generally established by Medicare. At the time of this writing in November of 2020, Medicare reimbursement for physical therapist services will be cut 9% beginning in January 2021. This means that many insurance companies will follow Medicare’s lead and do the same. Deductibles, premiums, and maximum out-of-pocket costs will also likely increase, resulting in patients spending more on services on the backend. In order to offset reimbursement cuts, many insurance-based physical therapy practices will have to raise copays and will try to increase patient volume. This means that patients will spend less time with therapists, and may be scheduled more frequently.

Fortitude chooses not to be bound by the limitations placed on physical therapy practices set by insurance companies. We don’t have to double and triple book clients. We are transparent with the pricing of our services and will not surprise you with bills down the road. We spend an hour with each client in order to ensure individualized care and to provide ample space and opportunity for clients to understand the plan and to ask important questions. It’s important to us that each athlete be heard. Because we spend more one-on-one time with clients during visits, we can ensure a plan of care that is tailored to YOUR goals and needs. This ensures we aren’t wasting your time with ineffective treatment strategies, and that we typically don’t need to see you as often compared to insurance-based care, saving YOU money in the long run.

The bottom line is, we save you time and money in order to get you or your athlete back to doing the things that matter.

If you have an HSA associated with your high deductible insurance plan, we can accept that because it’s your money. We can also provide a super-bill that you can submit if you’d like to attempt to get reimbursed by your insurance. Ultimately, we provide more value than insurance-based practices, which allows us to better serve athletes and youth athletes within our community of Chamblee and NE Atlanta.

Our friends over at HQPT wrote up an excellent article that dives into more detail about why you should see a cash-based physical therapist if you’d like to learn more details about why we believe in operating this way, or you can give us a call at Fortitude and we’d be happy to chat.

However, we do believe there are certain circumstances in which clients would be better served through insurance-based providers. We are more than happy to work with you in order to help you find high quality care.
